KEYNOTE: How To Thrive In The Era Of Digital Disruption

Bobby Cameron - Keynote Speaker at 2019 Conexxus Annual ConferenceBobby Cameron, Vice President, Principal Analyst Serving CIOs, Forrester.  Customer needs and expectations are redefining business and competition. Customer-obsessed firms win in this new environment by following four operating principles: customer-led (outside-in design), insights-driven (smarter decisions), fast (continuously testing and discovering what works), and connected (reaching across the customers’ ecosystems). Digital technologies sit at the core of this transformation, with retail firms redefining everything from merchandising and replenishment to instore customer engagement. And their IT organizations adopt cloud-first, platform-based strategies with continuous solution delivery (Agile, DevOps, continuous testing, and continuous integration). This session will lay out how retail IT shops rearchitect systems of record, engagement, and automation to meet these challenging new opportunities.

KEYNOTE: Small Data... What it can tell you that your consumer cannot.

Time Lowe - Keynote Speaker at 2019 Conexxus Annual ConferenceTim Lowe, President, Lowes Foods.
Big data is vitally important to understanding how to make your business successful, but small data can tell you things that big data may miss.

APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) have been a central component of system design for decades.  With the solidification of the Internet and the Web, a new breed of remote – or cloud – APIs has emerged, which allow secure remote access to cloud computing and resources.  While APIs provide new and wide-ranging connectivity capabilities, the need for standards in the data and business flows is crucial, now more than ever before.  In this session, we’ll examine benefits of APIs, efforts by Conexxus members to embrace the technology, and review why standards continue to provide outstanding benefits for retailers.

EDUCATION SESSION: Hackers, Pumps, and Stores, Oh My!

Geoff Vaughan, Security Innovation
Ed Adams, Security Innovation
Is your company prepared for a cybersecurity attack? Do you even know where your brand is most vulnerable? This presentation will discuss the main cyber threats to convenience stores, oil & gas companies, payment processors, and software vendors. In this session, we’ll discuss how and where organizations are at risk and more importantly, we’ll provide tips to help your company become more ready for cyber battle.

EDUCATION SESSION: Track, Trace, and Verify - Practical Uses for Blockchains in Retail

Moderator: Chuck Young, Impact 21
Liz Sertl, GS1 US
Allen Brown, Deixis, PBC
Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), of which Blockchain is a common example, promises substantial improvement in our ability to track, trace, and verify the history - or provenance - of goods, services, and software.  Tracing provenance, in turn, raises questions about contracts and their fulfillment.  In addition, the ability to limit purchases based on transparent and consensual records will protect merchants as sales of goods are more and more closely controlled by regulation.  In this session, we’ll explore the use cases that will benefit from these capabilities, and discuss efforts underway in industry to create systems that will help realize the promise of provenance.
