Mission Statement: To create an FDC/POS-Car Wash standard that can be leveraged for modern car wash functionality as well as by devices on the forecourt with similar use cases (e.g. air pumps).
Active Projects: Today, often a very old protocol is being used as a de facto standard for car wash interfaces to other site systems, but implementations are inconsistent and the protocol covers a limited number of use cases and cannot be enhanced as it is not maintained. This working group will begin work on a standard interface that can be used by car wash manufacturers and forecourt device controller manufacturers to provide for greater interoperability among car wash and site system vendors and facilitate the introduction of new functionality surrounding car wash. This effort is to provide for a common protocol for a car wash device to communicate to other site systems for the purposes of selling a car wash from an external device (e.g. dispenser, POS), payment processing, reconciliation and reporting of car wash, alerts, and price management.
