ABOUT THE CONEXXUS ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Each spring Conexxus holds its Annual Conference... the only event that focuses on new technologies and technology standards to improve business processes, reduce costs, and increase profitability in the convenience and fuel retailing industry. Attendees join Conexxus business and technical committees to discuss critical technology issues that are changing the way companies in our industry do business. From the latest on data security to advances in payment technologies, each year attendees (whether members or not!) are part of the process to create and set technology standards.

We covered a lot of ground at the 2019 Conference; from our aggressive initiative to move from XML to API standards, to the role of blockchain in revolutionizing supply chain, to insights of leading industry CIOs. Along the way, we were reminded by Tim Lowe that with all our data gathering – it is the “little data” of consumer insights that gives our data pools actionable context. If there is one clear message from the Conference; retailers, through listening to their customers, need to take the leadership role in transforming our industry for the digital future, and we need close participation by our vendors to take us there. It is critical that we keep our momentum going throughout the year – to achieve our aggressive goals in API standards and Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.

We are in the beginning of an industrial revolution brought on by the simultaneous maturation of many technologies that will transform how we shop, work and live our lives. Collectively, these technologies are part the 4th Industrial Revolution, and the opportunities for our industry to migrate to a digital economy are critical to our viability. As the World Economic Forum stated last year, retail will change more in the next 10 years, than in the last 40, and this year’s Annual Conference is designed to prepare our members on the forefront of that opportunity.
