PCATS Certification Committee Sets Agenda for the 2009 Annual Conference

The Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS) announced today that the Certification Committee will be meeting at the 2009 PCATS Annual Conference to be held the week of January 26, 2009, in Orlando, Florida.

Gregg Peele, chair of the committee, stated, "2009 will be an important year for the PCATS Certification Program.  As PCATS and W.Capra Laboratories work together to enhance the program and provide improved services to the industry, it is important that the committee review existing standards and work with W. Capra to create a plan for certification of standards and the standards lab for the upcoming year (2009)."

Mr. Peele added, "The committee is charged with providing the strategy to take the work product from the all of the technical committees and translate it into certification scripts.  This means that there must be a clear set of deliverables for the technical committees to ensure certification approval provides the appropriate measure of interoperability. Our initial effort will be to ready the Electronic Sign messaging standard and EB2B Invoicing standard for certification.  We will use these certifications as examples as we further develop the program."

Scott Wood, PCATS Director of Standards stated that, "All retailers and solution providers in the industry have a vital stake in ensuring that the PCATS Certification Program meets industry needs. And there is no better time to make that happen than during this committee's meeting."

Mr. Wood stressed that, "For certification of any of the PCATS standards to be successful, input from the retailer and solution provider communities is vital.  For this reason we encourage all regardless of membership status to attend this important committee meeting."
