FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: John HerveyMarch 4, 2004 (703) 518-4297 [email protected] PCATS Releases Version 3.3 of Point-of-Sale Back Office Interface Standard ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS) announced that it has released Version 3.3 of the Point-of-Sale Back Office Interface Standard.. This standard was designed to enable solution providers and retailers to reduce costs by making it possible to program a standard interface between a point-of-sale system from one vendor and a back office accounting system from another vendor. The standard now makes it unnecessary for solution providers to dedicate unproductive time to writing proprietary interfaces or for retailers to have to pay for such interfaces. “This release brings the POS Back Office Interface Standard to a more complete and implementable level than previous versions,” said PCATS Executive Director John Hervey. “This version represents almost two year’s worth of effort by a working group composed of a very dedicated group of volunteers from some of the leading solution providers to the industry,” Hervey added. This version of the standard was released in two formats: one version is in document type definition (dtd) and the other in Xschema (xsd). The general release Version 3.3 can be downloaded at www.pcats.org. A fully documented release is available to PCATS members in the “members only” section of the same Web site. An earlier version of the standard was demonstrated at NACStech 2002 and the NACS Show 2002.
